Our Mission
IRIS - a 6* rated Research Institute - is concerned with sociotechnical nature of work organisations and society.
IRIS comprises two research centres, which are organised to encompass the necessarily diverse range of topics under investigation. It is recognised that they are not mutually exclusive and fragmented; rather that knowledge from one Centre is valuable to the research endeavours of the other.

Doctoral Profiles
Aleksej Heinze
Having completed my first degree at the University of Salford, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to go on to study for a PhD and undertake Graduate Teaching Assistant Duties.
The support for me in the IRIS research institute was 6* and I am very grateful to the IRIS doctoral schools, the SPoRT programme as offered by the University of Salford and last but not least my supervisor Chris Procter and Co-supervisor Professor Elaine Ferneley.
I am now a lecturer in Salford Business School and since May, I have embarked on several new projects, including the evaluation of third mission funding for the Higher Education Funding Council of Wales (HEFCW), working with Professor Christos Kalantaridis and the evaluation of online research communities for Virtual Survey Ltd., working with Professor Elaine Ferneley. I have also had, working with other colleagues, several journal articles accepted for publication.
